Shearman Bowen and Co, a law firm specialising in defending individuals and companies subject to criminal investigation and proceedings, invites applications from candidates for the following positions:

Assistant Solicitor – The successful candidate must have at least 1 years’ experience and demonstrate a commitment to criminal law and practice and is keen to develop their skills undertaking a mix of private and legal aid work. We are looking for someone who is willing to work as part of a close-knit team with a strong collegiate ethos and to assist the partners with business development and promotion of the firm.

Trainee solicitor – We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Solicitor to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has completed their Legal Practice Course (LPC) or is pursuing qualification via the SQE route.  The successful candidate will work closely with the senior partners.

Paralegal – We have a paralegal position available to assist with general case work and administration. This position is suitable to those looking for a training contract with or without any real experience in criminal law and who are looking to expand their knowledge and experience. The position is also suitable to those who have recently passed her bar exams who are awaiting tenancy and wish to increase their experience before joining chambers. The successful candidate will work closely with the partners and will be involved in all stages of case preparation.
